Elizabeth Mirzaei is a director and cinematographer of nonfiction cinema. Her first feature-length film LAILA AT THE BRIDGE screened at dozens of festivals including Locarno, CPH:DOX (F:ACT Award), Santa Barbara (Social Justice Award), Hot Docs (Top 20 Audience Favorite), Bergen (Human Rights Award) and Sheffield (Tim Hetherington Award Nominee). Elizabeth lived in Afghanistan for eight years where she directed films for Al Jazeera, the BBC and Discovery. Her cinematography has been featured in A FLICKERING TRUTH (New Zealand’s entry to the Academy Awards), and the Emmy-nominated WHAT TOMORROW BRINGS. Elizabeth’s is a current mentee in the Women in Film Directing Circle. Previously, Elizabeth worked in development at Millennium Films, where she assessed narrative scripts for their structure and characterization. Elizabeth lives in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter.
